Faith Fortunes One's Life With Miracles

Faith is complete trust enveloped with love, doubtless devotion and wholeheartedness. Very seldom do we place our trust in people. Sometimes, situations, stress and our mental attitude force us to place our faith in people or God. What is faith and why is it so powerful? How can it turn normal situation into a miracle?

Faith is not timely faith or belief in a person or Divine being. It takes abundant love and trust to surrender ourselves to God. When problems garland our life continually and the situation requires immediate action not provoking negative reaction and when there is no other resort other than God, it is then we place our trust in God. We do not let our ego come in between us and pray with all our heart to let go of the problems and help us live in peace. Imagine the kind of faith we need to have for a problem to turn into a solving miracle. Surrender your ego selflessly to God. He will take care of granting your wish.

First develop positive feeling towards the word ‘faith.’ This is more important than merely thinking you have faith. With faith, anything can happen. It is very powerful. Is solving the biggest problem on the earth difficult to the greatest Lord of the Universe? Any problem, though big is small to the Lord, if you have faith.

Next comes, having faith in ourselves. This is very important to start off with any work. If we have faith, we will have self-confidence. This acts as a stepping stone for success. Our thoughts are so powerful that whatever we think-positive or negative, thoughts take form. This is true. Beware of your thoughts. Though the circumstances drastically force you to think negatively, do not let those thoughts enter your mind even for a moment. Let negative things happen but do not think negatively. For, your thoughts have vibrations and power which will force those thoughts to take place in form. So be careful of what you think. Think positive even in ruthless situations and look for a great change in your lives. Those negative moments turn into miracles. You need not see the whole process of success to place faith. Placing faith is your first step. Success takes care of itself. Miracles take place if you have faith in your thoughts, action and above all God. If God brings you to it, he will bring you through it, if only you have faith.

I was reminded of such a miracle that happened in 2013 when my daughter Roopali was 13 years old and we, along with our Arkansas friends planned for a summer trip to Europe for a fortnight. We booked the flight tickets and also paid the trip amount to the travels for the whole family. We were just few weeks away from our trip. The kids were overwhelmed with the excitement. But something was prompting me that there would be some obstacle for my trip and I expressed the same to my friend Prasanna. She was surprised to hear that but pacified me saying everything would just go fine.

One afternoon, Roopali was at a volleyball tournament outside of my town in Indiana along with her fellow American friends. They had a 2-hour break for their game to resume and they were having fun with their dance moves in the parking lot. Roopali is a passionate dancer and when she tried a dance move very casually, all of a sudden, her knee cap dislocated forcing her to tumble down. Her friends were around her and shouted for help and my husband Sai ran to the location and analyzed her situation and immediately tried to adjust her knee cap since there was not much time to search for a hospital in that unknown town. With the knee cap adjustment, she was in terrible pain and screamed. Once she was back to our town, we took her to the doctor and had some x-rays taken. He said she would need a surgery and that she could not travel at all. All of us were already very upset and his words upset us much more. Once we reached home, I started to do every possible spiritual effort to help cure Roopali without any surgery. I cried so much and challenged the Lord saying,

“I want to know the truth with this experience if karma is greater or faith in you is greater. Will karma win or the faith in you? This will be my deciding factor all my life, as to what path to choose. If you say karma is the deciding factor, what role does faith play and when? If faith can override my karma, that itself will be the greatest boon.”

With earnest prayers in my heart and tears in my eyes, I sat by the altar and asked the Lord to grant me His darshan. I needed his darshan at any cost to pacify my heart. My heart was filled with blind trust in Him. I closed my eyes drenched in tears with both my hands and lo, for the first time in my life, I could see Ganesha and other forms of Gods forming and appearing and giving darshan while my eyes remained shut. I was in a shock and of course a divine and stunning shock not knowing what was happening. It was unbelievable. It happened for few seconds, as if a movie was playing and the scenes were changing-one form of God appears as if someone was drawing a sketch and gradually it disappears while other form appears. First I saw Ganesha, Hanuman, and Devi and so on. (This happened another time when I was in extreme bliss and had yearning for the Lord’s darshan but was little scared to keep my eyes shut for long. It was a beautiful feeling yet I felt nervous.) That was an amazing experience which gave me immense faith. He answered my prayer of his darshan asked in earnestness. I rubbed my eyes, thanked him wholeheartedly while my heart was filled with trust in Him. Next day, we went to the doctor again as advised and the doctor said that he discussed the issue with the senior most physicians the previous day and they came to a conclusion that a surgery was not at all required for Roopali but that she should not dance for 6 months at least. They didn’t even prescribe any medicine and asked us to visit in few weeks to ensure everything was intact. Uncontrollable tears of endless gratitude towards the Lord were rolling down my cheeks when the doctor was uttering those words. He said she could travel after few weeks after confirming that she recouped well. How can we render thanks to the Lord for changing her fate and uplifting my faith? We were all very excited, happy and content. We went to the doctor in few weeks just before our Europe trip and got x-rays taken and the doctor confirmed that her knee was back to normal and she could walk and do her chores as usual except that she couldn’t dance until few months. Thank you Lord for proving to me that faith overrides karma. All my life, I will live with faith and trust in you, no matter what kind of a challenge I face in life.

It was then I realized that I do not lack anything in life as the Lord of the Universe is within my reach.  God is my only property that never destroys with me.  My faith in Him remains in me as long as I breathe on this earth.  What else is precious to a human being than having unwavering faith in the Lord? God knows what we deserve.  It is He who decides what is to be granted at all times.  If it is good for us, we will get it somehow.  O Lord! Promise me you will never ever leave me and I promise I can never dare to forget you any time in my life.  This life is given by you and I shall live it in such a way that I take pride in giving it back to you.  All these years with lot of hard work and devotion, I built a property of my own which is YOU. This property of mine shall remain even after I leave this earth plane.  It is because it is not the worldly property to destroy but it is a divine property.  My real property is God which remains in my soul even after my body perishes. Day after day…..until that final day, until my last breath, I will yearn to earn not the materialistic possessions but thy divine grace that helps me merge in you.
